How to assemble honeycomb panels

Stand walls assembled dry, without glue: alignment strip in the side groove, connectors in the end grooves, plates on the nodes and edge covers on exposed sides. The full sequence below, in 3D as well.

Assembly in 3D

The model is built on the real dimensions of the 1000 × 3000 × 40 mm panel. Pick the node (I, L, T or X) and press “Simulate panel assembly”: alignment strip, connectors, plates, screws and edge covers. Pause, scrub back and orbit around the joint, top and bottom.

Choose L, T or X to see the other nodes. “Bottom joint” shows the joint at floor level.Open full screen ↗

The grooves that make dry assembly possible

Every panel leaves production with two perimeter grooves sized for the accessories: 15 × 16 mm on the ends for the 15 × 15 mm tubular connectors, and 4 × 17 mm on the long sides for the MDF alignment strip, half in each panel. No glue, brackets or foam: the accessories slot into the grooves and the screws lock them. Dismantling works the same way, and the panels go back into stock ready for the next show.

Step-by-step assembly

1 · Stand the first panel

Set the panel upright in position. The perimeter grooves are machined at the factory: 15 × 16 mm on the ends, 4 × 17 mm on the long sides.

2 · Insert the alignment strip

The AA-001 MDF strip, 28 × 4 mm, goes halfway into the side groove of the first panel. It keeps both faces on the same plane.

3 · Push the second panel in

The next panel is pushed against the first: the free half of the strip enters its side groove and the wall stays flush.

4 · Fit the connectors top and bottom

The EG-I01 connector (15 × 15 × 400 mm tube) slides into the end groove: 200 mm in one panel and 200 mm in the other. It goes at the top and at the bottom, the same way.

5 · Add the plate on L, T and X nodes

On corners and crossings a 2 mm steel plate (L, T or X) sits on the connectors and ties the meeting walls together. Again top and bottom.

6 · Screw down

Screws go through the Ø 5 mm holes in the plate and connector and lock them into the fir frame of the panel.

7 · Close the exposed sides

Where the side of a panel stays visible, fit the CF edge cover, 40 × 3 mm, in the same finish as the panels: raw with raw, white with white, and so on for every colour.

Exposed sides: edge cover in the same finish

Where a wall ends, or on the outside of an L corner, the side of the panel shows its groove and fir frame. It is closed with the CF edge cover, 40 × 3 mm, 2500 or 3000 mm long, in the same finish as the panels: raw on raw panels, white on white, black on black, oak on oak. Change the finish in the 3D model and the cover follows.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need glue to assemble the panels?

No. Assembly is dry: alignment strip and connectors slot into the grooves and are locked with screws, so the panels can be dismantled and reused.

Do the connectors go at the top and at the bottom?

Yes. Every joint is made at the top and at the bottom in the same way: connector in the end groove and, on L, T and X nodes, plate and screws.

What is the alignment strip for?

It sits halfway in the side groove of two adjacent panels and stops one face from standing proud of the other. It is free with the panels.

What colour is the edge cover?

The same as the panel finish: raw covers on raw panels, white on white, and so on for every colour.
